The Style Manual

Globex Software Company · third edition · revised November 2010

For anyone setting a Globex page, box, or printed insert. The rule underneath all of it: every light source in our work comes from directly above, and nothing on the page may contradict that.

Anything you press is raised: a highlight along its top edge, a hard shadow beneath it standing in for the thickness of the thing. Anything you type into is sunk, with the shadow inside and along the top.

Photographs

A photograph is a print, not an image. It gets a 10px white border, a shadow, and a degree of rotation, because a print left on a desk is never square to the desk. Rotation alternates in direction down the page and never exceeds 1.5 degrees.

House rules
980px sheet floating on linen · every light source is above · text on light takes a white shadow below, text on dark a black shadow above · photographs get a 10px white border and a degree of rotation · the page does not reflow, because the window is 1024 wide and always will be.
